According to the update, NJUCM ranks 126th among universities in the Chinese Mainland with a ranking percentile of 23.55%, and 989th globally, improving by 67 positions compared with the previous period. With a global percentile of 9.63%, NJUCM remains the only university in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) ranked among the top 1,000 universities worldwide, marking a new milestone in its international academic influence.

Based on high-quality scholarly data indexed in the Web of Science, ESI objectively assesses the academic performance and international impact of universities and research institutions from key dimensions such as research output, citation frequency, and highly cited papers. Its rankings serve as an important benchmark for measuring the disciplinary strength and research competitiveness of higher education institutions.
Disciplinary development achievements constitute the core driving force behind the rise of the university's overall strength. As of May 2026, NJUCM boasts nine ESI Top 1% disciplines, namely Pharmacology & Toxicology, Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Biology & Biochemistry, Neuroscience & Behavior, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Agricultural Sciences, Immunology, and Materials Science, maintaining a leading position among universities of traditional Chinese medicine in the Chinese Mainland.
