On October 11–12, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) successfully held the 5th Lingshan Forum for Young Scholars · Forum on Cross-disciplinary Innovation in Chinese Materia Medica. With the theme “New Quality Empowerment through Interdisciplinary Integration, Smart Innovation in Materia Medica Converges at Lingshan”, the forum attracted nearly 150 young scholars from 21 countries and regions, both online and offline. Experts and attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as interdisciplinary innovation in Chinese materia medica and cutting-edge developments in modern science and technology.
Qiao Xuebin, Party Secretary of NJUCM, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech. Hu Lihong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of NJUCM, presided over the ceremony.
Qiao Xuebin extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests and young scholars from home and abroad. He gave an overview of the university’s recent achievements in education, research, and development. Qiao Xuebin emphasized that the Lingshan Forum serves not only as a signature event for academic exchange and talent recruitment, but also as an open platform for cooperation and communication.
He remarked that in recent years, NJUCM has adhered to an open and flexible talent strategy, vigorously implementing the “Talent-Driven University” initiative and the “Double Cultivation and Talent Gathering Project.” The university has established a comprehensive mechanism covering the attraction, cultivation, utilization, and retention of talent through a series of supportive policies. Qiao Xuebin stressed that NJUCM values and cherishes talent, and looks forward to cooperating with outstanding young scholars worldwide to jointly promote interdisciplinary innovation and contribute to the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
During the forum, representatives from the Human Resources Office, Department of Science and Technology, and the School of Pharmacy introduced NJUCM’s latest talent recruitment policies, research platforms, and the current progress of the Chinese materia medica discipline. Young faculty members of NJUCM shared their academic experiences and achievements since joining the university, while twelve outstanding overseas young scholars presented their latest research outcomes and actively engaged in discussions with on-site experts.
On the afternoon of October 11, a Talent Exchange and Signing Ceremony was held. The university signed recruitment agreements with five overseas young scholars who have achieved outstanding research accomplishments.
On the morning of October 12, the participating scholars visited the Jiangsu Provincial Museum of Chinese Medicine and the Simcere Joint Laboratory for field exchanges and interactions.
Taking this forum as an opportunity, NJUCM will continue to enhance its talent cultivation and recruitment systems, further promoting the Lingshan Forum as a “magnetic field” and “business card” for attracting global talent. The university aims to attract, well-utilize, and retain talent, thereby fostering deeper disciplinary integration and contributing to the construction of “Healthy China.”
