On December 20, 2023 Seminar on International Communication of Chinese Medicine Culture was held in Beijing. With the theme of Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Promote the Inheritance and Innovative Development of Chinese Medicine, the seminar was guided by China International Communications Group (CICG) and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), and hosted by China Center for International Communication Development (CCICD) and China Association of Chinese Medicine (CACM). Yu Wenming, former Director of NATCM and President of CACM, and Lu Cairong, Deputy Director of CICG, attended the event and delivered speeches. More than 150 representatives of local provinces and cities, universities and think tanks, medical institutions and enterprises, and international students participated in the event.
At the seminar, the results of the First Collection of Cases on International Communication of Chinese Medicine Culture were announced. This activity was launched in July 2022 by CCICD in cooperation with CACM. After extensive collection and professional evaluation, 19 out of 100+ cases were shortlisted in key areas of TCM development, such as healthcare, education, scientific research, industry and cultural communication, and the Top 10 Typical Cases were selected on the basis.
Awarding Ceremony
The case of Build the International Brand of Confucius Institute, Promote the Classified Expression of Chinese Medicine Culture declared by NJUCM was selected as one of the Ten Typical Cases, and Zhang Jianhua, Deputy Director of NJUCM International Affairs Department, participated in the awarding ceremony. In recent years, NJUCM has taken the Confucius Institute as a carrier to promote the classified expression of the story of Chinese medicine and enhance the affinity and effectiveness of international communication. The Confucius Institute of Chinese Medicine jointly established with RMIT, Australia features joint training of Chinese medicine undergraduates and dissemination of Chinese medicine culture; the Confucius Institute jointly established with the University of Galway, Ireland features joint scientific research and cooperation in Chinese medicine and regenerative medicine. Relying on the Master's Degree Construction of International Chinese Education, NJUCM continuously promotes integrated development of Chinese medicine basic and classical courses in the perspective of international Chinese language education and linguistic and cultural exchanges, and carries out a series of programs such as online experience camps of Chinese medicine culture for South America, ASEAN and Lancang-Mekong countries to cultivate the soil of overseas Chinese medicine culture.
