Delegation from University of Tasmania Visited NJUCM

On the afternoon of July 2, Rob Wilson, Vice Chancellor of University of Tas mania (UTAS), visited NJUCM, accompanied by Roger Li, Chair of Board and CEO of AEMG Education Group, Elroy Duan, Assistant President and Director of Global Affairs and Partners Department of AEMG, etc. Sun Zhiguang, Vice President of NJUCM, attended the meeting, and relevant personnel from the College of Pharmacy and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange participated in the activity. The symposium was hosted by Zhang Xu, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of the International Education College.

On behalf of NJUCM, Sun Zhiguang welcomed the delegation from UTAS and made a brief introduction to the discipline construction and international cooperation development of the university. He said that NJUCM will continue to carry out international exchanges with UTAS in a variety of fields, including scientific research, mutual visits of teachers, student exchanges, etc., to establish close relationship in scientific research with a focus on the overseas cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines, and to take the path of joint cultivation of doctoral and master's degree students of TCM to highlight the strengths of the disciplines of both parties, and promote the establishment of the platform for the exchange of talents and scientific research on TCM between China and Australia.

 

As early as in 2017, NJUCM was awarded a special project by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine -- the China-Australia Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry Cooperation Base (Tas mania) Project. The project relies on the technical advantages of NJUCM's discipline of Chinese Pharmacology in the research of ecological suitability of Chinese herbal medicines, cultivation of medicinal plants, standardized production, comprehensive development and utilization of resources, etc., and combines with the superior natural climate and soil conditions in Tas mania, selects suitable varieties of Chinese herbal medicines for planting and cultivation and, based on Australia and other overseas Chinese medicine markets, cultivates high-quality, green and pollution-free varieties of Chinese herbal medicines to build an international brand of Chinese herbal medicines.

 

The two sides communicated with each other on the issues of talent cultivation and medicine introduction, and indicated that they would actively promote the project in the future, share the resources and results, and promote Chinese herbal medicines to the world together. Through technical cooperation, talent training, industrial development and other series of chain development mode, the two sides will  promote the transformation of academic achievements in the field of Chinese herbal medicines, explore the dissemination of overseas appropriate technology of Chinese medicine, and fully demonstrate the high quality of international industry-university-research cooperation model.
