On November 21, the Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine International Exchange Conference, jointly sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Peoples Government and Jiangsu Commission of Health, was kicked off in Nanjing with the theme of Let the World Know Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine.

 

Hu Gang, Vice Chair of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference and President of NJUCM, said in his speech that Chinese medicine is the treasure of ancient Chinese science and the key to the treasure house of Chinese civilization. Jiangsu TCM International Exchange Conference is a powerful measure to link domestic and international markets and resources, and expand the international influence of Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine, which provides new thinking and direction for Chinese medicine to serve the global health cause.

In recent years, as one of the first National TCM Service Export Bases, NJUCM has been actively performing the functions of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Center for Traditional Medicine and the International Acupuncture Training Center, continuously promoting the high-quality integration of TCM international education into the construction of Belt and Road Initiative. In the conference, NJUCM and Mae Fah Luang University, Sunsuria Group of Malaysia and Instituto Piaget held the signing ceremony of international academic cooperation agreement.


Hu Gang signed the cooperation agreements with Thailand, Malaysia, Portugal and other partners on behalf of NJUCM.

 

In the high-level talks of the conference, experts from the fields of Chinese medicine and foreign exchange were invited to discuss the topics of inheritance, development and international communication of Jiangsu TCM. Hu Gang pointed out that NJUCM has been practicing the road of going out and inviting in closely in Chinese medicine education, Chinese culture dissemination and high quality development. In the future, NJUCM will continue to implement the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, make good use of Chinese medicine and promote to build a community of health for human beings.

In addition, Professor Huang Huang, Dean of the International Jingfang Institute of NJUCM, gave a keynote speech on the topic of Jingfang, For the Benefit of Mankind - Reflections on the International Promotion of Jingfang. He suggested that the use of Jingfang as a carrier and the use of visual language to interpret classical Chinese medical treatment thinking can effectively overcome the language and cultural barriers to the internationalization of Chinese medicine. Professor Zhu Xiaoshu, a distinguished overseas alumna of NJUCM and Associate Dean of the School of Science and Health of Western Sydney University, gave a keynote speech on the topic of On Wings of Traditional Chinese Medicine: My Australian Story. She proposed that the overseas development of TCM needs to be rooted in the local community, cooperate widely, and lead the industry with unremitting efforts. She shared two main ideas of bringing TCM into the mainstream in Australia and promoting the international recognition of TCM for better health, and shared the development of TCM in Australia from four aspects: barriers and challenges, strategies and methods, exploration and achievement, reflections and future.

Since the 18th Party Congress, under the care and promotion of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the development of Chinese medicine ushered in the historical opportunity of timing, location and people.
