On October 21, the 2022 Academic Seminar of Jiangsu-UK/Jiangsu-Canada University Consortium was held online and offline by NJUCM and co-organized by Jiangsu-UK World-Class University Consortium and Jiangsu-Canada University Cooperation Consortium. With the theme of International Talent Cultivation and Research Cooperation in First-Class Undergraduate Programs, the seminar focused on the construction of a global education environment. Participants shared the experience and achievements of the Consortium universities during the construction of national first-class programs in Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy and Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine.

At the opening ceremony, President Hu Gang of NJUCM said that, as a member of the Consortium, NJUCM has participated in the construction of five alliances, including Jiangsu-UK World-Class University Consortium, Jiangsu-Canada University Cooperation Consortium, Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, Jiangsu-Korea University Cooperation Consortium, and Confucius Institute of Jiangsu Province. He hoped that the seminar would form a number of excellent achievements, build an exchange platform, help the construction of the alliance, and provide new channels for the collaborative development of Chinese and foreign universities in the Consortium. NJUCM will continue to play an active role and contribute to the implementation of the instruction of General Secretary Xi Jinping on improving the strategic layout of talents, accelerating the construction of the world's important talent center and innovation highland, and making efforts to form the comparative advantage of international competitiveness of talents, and effectively promote the educational opening up of Jiangsu Province to the outside world.
Shi Yunyu, Director of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division of Jiangsu Education Department, pointed out that the Consortium has built interactive system, realized wisdom collision and gathered integrated power for the synergistic development among universities and fields, which has laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development and opening up of education in Jiangsu Province. It is hoped that the Consortium will continue to promote practical cooperation, carry out international cooperation projects with wider benefits, and continuously enhance the international influence of education in Jiangsu.
After the academic presentations, NJUCM and Queen's University Belfast jointly inaugurated the 2022 Jiangsu Education Department’s International Cooperation Joint Laboratory - Jiangsu Province International Cooperation Joint Laboratory of Animal-based Traditional Chinese Medicine and Functional Peptides. This laboratory was jointly declared by Cao Peng, Dean of the School of Pharmacy NJUCM and Queen's University Belfast, and is the second joint laboratory approved after the International Cooperation Joint Laboratory of Chinese Medicine and Regenerative Medicine Research with National University of Ireland Galway in 2021.

Vice President Sun Zhiguang made a concluding speech. He said that the seminar is of great significance to the construction and development of the cooperation platform of Chinese and foreign universities, as it contributes to the international talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation in Jiangsu. In the post-epidemic era, NJUCM will continue to promote all-round cooperation with high-level universities in the world based on the alliance of universities, rely on the demonstration effect of international cooperation joint laboratory projects to comprehensively promote the cultivation of international innovative talents and make new contributions to the provincial opening up of education.
Experts from more than 20 universities, including Queen's University Belfast, University of Saskatchewan, Soochow University, Nanjing Tech University, Jiangnan University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing Medical University, Xuzhou Medical University, China Pharmaceutical University, Yangzhou University, Nanjing University of Finance & Economics, Nanjing Audit University, Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, etc., attended the meeting online.
