Jiangsu Museum of Chinese Medicine Opened For Trial Operation

May 18, 2022 is the 46th International Museum Day. The opening ceremony of the Jiangsu Museum of Chinese Medicine which has been built on the basis of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine was held for trial operation, together with the opening ceremony of the exhibition Great Chinese Medicine Comes into Painting and The Great Mineral Medicine. Cheng Chun, party secretary of NJUCM, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Those who participated in the ceremony are former school leaders Zuo Yanfu, Chen Diping, and Duan Jinao, all the current leaders in Nanjing campus, the former director of the library Ji Wenhui, representatives of experts and scholars who participated in the museum's exhibition layout and design, and teachers and alumni who have donated to the museum. Peng Zhaoyuan, director of the Mineral Crystal Professional Committee of the View Stone Association of China, attended the ceremony as the representative of the donors in Nanjing.

Cheng Chun, on behalf of NJUCM, welcomed the leaders and guests who attended the ceremony, congratulated the Jiangsu Museum of Chinese Medicine on its trial operation, and thanked all the donors who supported the construction of the museum. He pointed out that this museum fully highlighted the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, telling the story of Jiangsu Province and NJUCM on TCM. It plays an important role in the protection, inheritance and promotion of Chinese medicine culture, and is of great significance to help NJUCM become a high-level, distinctive and international first-class university of Chinese medicine.

 

Cheng emphasized that a first-class university needs a first-class museum. The university museum is an important carrier for displaying the university's heritage, cultivating campus culture and inheriting the national spirit. He hoped that the museum could enrich the types of collections, optimize the form of exhibitions, and become an important base for displaying the history and achievements of Jiangsu traditional Chinese medicine, be more closely integrated with teaching and scientific research and more actively cooperate with heritage institutions all over the country, and organize various forms of exhibitions and popular science education activities.

Participating leaders issued donation certificates to representatives of donors who cared about the development of traditional Chinese medicine and supported the construction of the museum. Leaders and guests jointly pushed the launch lever to announce the official trial operation of the Jiangsu Museum of Chinese Medicine. After the ceremony, representatives of teachers and students visited the museum together.

The Jiangsu Museum of Chinese Medicine aims to present the long history of traditional Chinese medicine in China, highlight the characteristics and achievements of traditional Chinese medicine in Jiangsu, and reveal the cultural heritage of NJUCM. Through the display of various traditional Chinese medicine cultural collections, it strives to build a regional characteristic cultural window with the collection, protection, research and display of TCM cultural heritage resources. The building area of the museum is 11,000 square meters. It is divided into five permanent exhibition halls and a temporary exhibition hall, including Chinese Medicine History Gallery, Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine Gallery, Chinese Medicine Gallery, Regimen Culture Gallery, and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine School History Gallery, with an exhibition area of 4,500 square meters. In order to effectively give play to the education, communication, research and service functions of the museum, NJUCM decided to open it to the public for free through trial operation to actively respond to the ardent expectations of the museum from all walks of life.
