School of Pharmacy
Established in 1960 with its predecessor as Department of Pharmacy in Nanjing TCM College, School of Pharmacy is one of the higher education schools/departments of Chinese Medicine in China with the longest history of development.
The School has 5 academic departments including Resources and Authentication of Chinese Medicine, Processing and Preparation of Chinese Medicine, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry and Analysis, Biopharming and Food Science, and Experimental Teaching Center and Analysis and Test Center, 21 teaching and research offices (laboratories). In 2010, the School teamed up with Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to jointly build the Kanion School of Pharmacy.
The School has formed a comprehensive educational system including undergraduate, master and doctoral degree programs. It offers Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine as first level doctoral degree conferring program and post-doctoral working stations, Pharmacy and Chinese Medicine as first level academic degree conferring program, Pharmacy and Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine professional master degree program.
The School adheres to the education idea of “virtue, practicality, sincerity and excellence”, and has developed into a top-ranked pharmacy school in terms of teaching and research levels after generations of pharmacy experts’ efforts. The School has made delightful achievements in disciplinary construction. In 2002, the discipline of Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine has been listed as National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education, and been listed as first-level National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, after assessed by Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of MOE, the Discipline of Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine was ranked the national second place in parallel among the same first-level disciplines. In 2009, the Processing of Chinese Medicine, Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine, Pharmaceutical Botany was selected as Key Disciplines of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in 2012, Chinese Medicine Pharmacy, Chemistry of Chinese Medicine and Chemistry of Chinese Medicine Resources was selected as Key Disciplines of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2017, the Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine was elected as "First-level Discipline" by the Ministry of Education.
In terms of educational and research facility construction, the School has built up a provincial level coordinated innovation center: Jiangsu Provincial Chinese Medicinal Resources Industrialization Process Coordinated Innovation Center, one national-level research platform: National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Chinese Medicine Resource Industrialization and Prescription Innovative Drugs of National Development and Reform Commission, and 13 ministerial and provincial level research platforms as following: Regularization and Standardization of Chinese Medicine Processing Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education, Key Research Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Processing of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Key Research Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Resources Recycling of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cultivation Point of Key National Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Quality and Efficacy of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Prescription High-tech Research, Jiangsu Provincial Research Center of Engineering Technology of Chinese Medicine Efficient Drug Delivery System, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Marine Medicinal Bio-resources Research and Development, Jiangsu Provincial Research Center of Botanical Medicine Deep Processing Engineering, Jiangsu Provincial Center of Blood-regulating Prescription Innovative Drugs Engineering, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Prescription, Jaingsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Processing, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicinal Material Efficacy.

The School has stuck to take quality as the core and innovation as the soul in its all-around facilitation to build educational quality safeguard construction. Since 2010, it has been awarded 7 “Excellent Doctoral Theses in Jiangsu Province”, 16 “Excellent Master Theses in Jiangsu Province”. In the last three years, the students in the School has won 1 grand prize, 1 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 1 Innovation Silver Prize at “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Scientific and Technological Works Competition, and has been awarded 1 gold prize and 1 bronze prize at Challenge Cup Chinese Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. The School has received 64 national-level and 49 provincial-level undergraduate innovative entrepreneurship training project.The School has been awarded 2 grand prizes, 1 third prize and 1 group prize at National TCM Educational Skill Competition, and has won the first prize in the first “Ambition Cup”, a national extracurricular S&T project competition for undergraduates in TCM higher education institutions. Currently the School provides over 20 varieties of scholarship including National Scholarship, National Encouraging Scholarship, National Subsidy, Excellent Freshmen Scholarship etc.
With openness and vision, the School has set up a long-term stable cooperative relationship of teaching and scientific research with domestic and overseas famous universities and scientific research institutes, including Harvard Medical School, Griffith University, Queen's University（Belfast）, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Kumamoto University, Osaka University, University of London, University of Toronto, Saint Mary's University, Nanyang Technological University, Woosuk University, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Chang Gung University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, China Pharmaceutical University, Second Military Medical University, China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Peking Union Medical University. In 2017, the Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine was elected as "First-level Discipline" by the Ministry of Education.

The School has stuck to take quality as the core and innovation as the soul in its all-around facilitation to build educational quality safeguard construction. Since 2010, it has been awarded 7 “Excellent Doctoral Theses in Jiangsu Province”, 16 “Excellent Master Theses in Jiangsu Province”. In the last three years, the students in the School has won 1 grand prize, 1 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 1 Innovation Silver Prize at “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Scientific and Technological Works Competition, and has been awarded 1 gold prize and 1 bronze prize at Challenge Cup Chinese Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. The School has received 64 national-level and 49 provincial-level undergraduate innovative entrepreneurship training project.The School has been awarded 2 grand prizes, 1 third prize and 1 group prize at National TCM Educational Skill Competition, and has won the first prize in the first “Ambition Cup”, a national extracurricular S&T project competition for undergraduates in TCM higher education institutions. Currently the School provides over 20 varieties of scholarship including National Scholarship, National Encouraging Scholarship, National Subsidy, Excellent Freshmen Scholarship etc.

The School has 5 academic departments including Resources and Authentication of Chinese Medicine, Processing and Preparation of Chinese Medicine, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry and Analysis, Biopharming and Food Science, and Experimental Teaching Center and Analysis and Test Center, 21 teaching and research offices (laboratories). In 2010, the School teamed up with Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to jointly build the Kanion School of Pharmacy.
The School has formed a comprehensive educational system including undergraduate, master and doctoral degree programs. It offers Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine as first level doctoral degree conferring program and post-doctoral working stations, Pharmacy and Chinese Medicine as first level academic degree conferring program, Pharmacy and Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine professional master degree program.

In 2002, the discipline of Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine has been listed as National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education, and been listed as first-level National Key Discipline by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, after assessed by Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of MOE, the Discipline of Pharmacology in Chinese Medicine was ranked the national second place in parallel among the same first-level disciplines.
