In 2001, it was merged with the Third People's Hospital of Taizhou City. In 2005, it was established as a third-class National Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine and an affiliated hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In May 2017, it was selected as the "National Key Hospital for Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation". It is the first designated hospital for industrial injury rehabilitation in Taizhou City and the national drug clinical trial confirmation agency. By the end of June 2017, the new courtyard (East Court) with a construction area of nearly 150,000 square meters was fully completed and put into use.

It covers all the first-class clinical departments in three-level Chinese medicine hospitals, including surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, infants, bone injuries, eyes, ears, nose and throat, oral cavity, acupuncture, anus and intestines, skin, encephalopathy and rehabilitation. Orthopedics and encephalopathy are the key clinical specialties of Chinese medicine, and ophthalmology, spleen and stomach diseases, rehabilitation are also included. Four provincial key clinical specialties of traditional Chinese medicine are Nephrology and Cardiovascular Disease, Oncology, Anorectal, Pediatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Acupuncture and Massage, Rheumatology, Pulmonary Disease, Endocrinology, Otolaryngology, Urology, Rehabilitation, Critical Care Medicine and Laboratory. There are 13 municipal key clinical specialties, including one academician workstation, four national physician workshops and four provincial veteran Chinese medicine workshops. Expert heritage studio 2, "Xu's Bone-setting Therapy" was included in Jiangsu Province intangible cultural heritage list.
