National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Resource Industrialization of Chinese Materia Medica and Prescription-oriented Innovative Drugs was established in 2013 upon the approval of National Development and Reform Commission.
Aiming at the major demand for the improvement of the industrial innovative capacity of resources of Chinese Materia Medica, the center has been emphatically launching the normalization of such bulk medicinal materials as Ginkgo, Angelica sinensis, Gorgon euryale seed, Abelmoschus manihot, Taixing pinellia, Fructus jujubae, wild jujube, Sophora alopecuroide and Sea-buckthorn, the establishment of their standard technological systems and the popularization of their application on the basis of the common problems and restrictive bottlenecks in the industrialization process of resources of Chinese materia medica and the process of prescription-oriented innovative drugs; has done research into the compatibility relationship of such representative prescriptions as decoction of four drugs and Sanao decoction and the material basis of their efficacies; has done evaluation research into the security and effectiveness of clinical medication of TCM; has done research into the resource-oriented utilization of the wastes in the industrialization process of TCM resources. The center has undertaken and completed more than 100 key and major projects of scientific research represented by “973”; has published 1149 academic papers, 272 of which have been included in SCI; has published 32 monographs; has obtained 193 authorized patents; has won 33 scientific and technological awards/prizes at the provincial level, 3 of which are second prizes of National Award of Scientific and Technological Progress; has been awarded 1 first prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education, 4 first and second prizes of Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Ministry of Education and 14 first and second prizes of Scientific and Technological Progress Award at the provincial level. The center has become a very influential academic height in China, with its research achievements having been highly appraised in the domestic and overseas academic circles.
Research directions: (1) normalization of the production and processing of traditional Chinese medicinal materials; (2) security and effectiveness of prescription-oriented innovative drugs and their compatibility application; (3) research of the resource recycling in the industrial process of Chinese Materia Medica resources.
