Professor Wu Mianhua

Prof. Wu Mianhua was appointed the Consultant of NJUCM in May 2014.

He graduated from Nanjing TCM College and then worked here in 1978. He took various positions including Deputy Director of Research Institute of TCM, Deputy Dean and Dean of the First Clinical Medicine College, Vice President and President of NJUCM. 

Professor Wu has been engaged in TCM internal medicine teaching and research, clinical and administrative work for 37 years and has made outstanding research achievements in Medical Distress Syndrome of TCM and reform of higher education of Chinese Medicine. 

As Head of Provincial and National Key Discipline, Prof. Wu has sustained research funding from National “973” Program, National Natural Science Foundation and has formed innovative theory of pathogenesis to guide treatment of refractory diseases by TCM. His theory has enriched the pathogenesis and treatment of TCM, effectively improving the clinical treatment. The related achievements have won him the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Prize and invention patents. He has published more than 100 papers as the first author and corresponding author and has compiled 10 works including TCM Internal Medicine and TCM Therapy of Lung Cancer, etc. 

As Head of Characteristic Specialty of TCM by Ministry of Education and Director of “Jingcheng Plan" Experimental Area for Training Mode by Ministry of Education, he has carried out reform to incorporate TCM culture into college education. With the formation of “Inheritance and Innovation: Exploration and Practice of Higher Education Mode to Reveal the Cultural Characteristics of TCM", Prof. Wu has won Special Teaching Achievement Award and a second prize for National Teaching Achievements. 

In 1996 he was honored as the Provincial Excellent Young Backbone Teachers in Colleges and Universities. In 1997 he was selected as a third level training candidates in Jiangsu Provincial "333 High-level Personnel Training Project". In 2008 he was recognized as one of the Most Outstanding Middle-aged and Young Experts in Jiangsu Province. He has been awarded the State Council Expert for Special Allowances since 2014. He also serves as Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Provincial TCM Society, Vice Director of National Higher Education of Chinese Medicine Society, and Deputy Director of Commission of TCM Teaching Instruction by Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of National Teaching Material Evaluation Committee for Institutions of TCM Higher Education, Director of WHO Collaborating Center.
