Professor Huang Xi
 

 

Prof. Huang Xi is a holder of TCM bachelor degree, master degree of Chinese-Western medicine combination, a PhD degree of physiology and postdoctoral degree of Chinese-Western medicine combination (learning from Academician Chen Keji), and a winner of National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. Prof. Huang now serves as a professor, doctoral supervisor and postdoctoral co-supervisor at School of Basic Medicine, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Comorbid Depressive Syndrome Research Institute of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. He concurrently serves as second-level professor and first-level chief physician (standard of universities subordinated to Ministry of Education) of Central South University, and double-appointed chair professor (selected from domestic experts for the first time in history) and master/doctoral supervisor and postdoctoral co-supervisor of Chinese and Western medicine combination/clinical pharmacology/physiology/pharmacology of Xiamen University.
For many years, Prof. Huang has been dedicated to research into heart vessels, kidney and intestines, depression, etc., has undertaken 8 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, has guided and successfully applied for more than 20 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, has published more than 200 articles, including more than 30 SCI theses, with the number and the total influencing factors of theses ranking the first among the SCI theses of prescription pharmacodynamics, has been cited by others at home and abroad in more than 800 articles; has secured 2 invention patents, and has supervised 4 postdocs and many doctor and master degree students; has been granted 1 award of National Scientific and Technological Progress and 1 award of science and technology at the ministerial or provincial level.
Major research fields:
1. Proposing studying pharmacodynamics of prescriptions and syndromes with the method of drug analysis;
2. Proposing and studying the research ideas and methods of TCM compound in-vivo pharmacodynamic substances and their action mechanism (biological prescription analysis pharmacology);
3. Proposing the hypothesis of liver-soothing prescriptions resisting depression and promoting dynamics, and studying the comorbid mechanism of depression from the approach of brain-smooth muscle axis.
Major social and academic positions:
A co-chairman of the 7th Theoretical Professional Committee of Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine, the second review expert of National Natural Science Foundation of China, a review expert of the 5th New Century Talents of Ministry of Education, a review expert of 10 international journals including JMCC, a member of the compilation committee or correspondence compilation committee of Chinese Med J and Chinese Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine, and other domestic journals, a new member of appraisal committee of National Awards of Scientific and Technological Progress, a member of appraisal committee of Award of Science and Technology of Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine.
Academic honors:
In 1998 and 2002, he was respectively awarded the title of a new star of science and technology and a silver star of science and technology of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army; in 2003, he was awarded by National Natural Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars; in 2001, he was awarded the second prize of National Award of Scientific and Technological Progress; in 2011, he was awarded the first prize of the Award of Scientific and Technological Progress in Hunan Province.
