Suzhou is the birthplace of Woo medicine, which brought up lots of talents and well-known doctors. Woo medicine made an indelible contribution to the development of Chinese medicine. Suzhou TCM Hospital was founded in 1956, and after 60 years of development, currently built as a National Model of TCM Hospital and Grade-III Class-A TCM Hospital, Suzhou TCM Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Graduate Student Training Base, Anhui University of Chinese Medicine Teaching Hospital and the State Drug Clinical Research Base Unit. Suzhou Woo Medicine Research Institute, Suzhou Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Suzhou Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese & Western Medicine and Suzhou Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine are affiliated to the hospital. 
The hospital is located in the Canglang New Town, southwest of Suzhou City, covering a floor area of about over 60 mu, a total construction area of 89,000 square meters, and 778 approved beds. In 2015, the outpatient and emergency department visit reached 1,589,400 attendances, with 24,400 discharges. 

The hospital features a complete range of clinical departments, nearly 20 departments including internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics & traumatology, gynecology, pediatrics, emergency department, etc, as well as the TCM service system with distinctive characteristics, the clinical, emergency and first-aid service system integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The Orthopedics & Traumatology Department is a key clinical specialty construction project of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and a key clinical specialty of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Gastroenterology Department is a key clinical specialty of the SATCM; the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and clinical pharmacy are the key clinical specialty construction project and cultivation project of the SATCM respectively; the Respiratory Department is a key TCM project of the Jiangsu Province Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the Oncology and Anorectum Department is the key TCM specialty construction project of Jiangsu Province Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the Cardiology Department, Acupuncture Department, Nephrology Department, Urology Department and Rheumatism Department are Suzhou’s key TCM specialties. The hospital has three SATCM “Famous TCM Studios”, a “Woo Medicine Miscellaneous Disease Studio”, as well as a Grade Ⅱ national TCM research laboratory, namely TCM clinical pharmacy laboratory.

The hospital has become an integrated TCM hospital of medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. At present, the hospital boasts of more than 1,200 employees, including 63 senior experts, 98 associate senior experts, 5 doctoral tutors and 25 master tutors; 2 experts entitled to the State Council Special Allowance, 2 instructors of “national old TCM expert academic experience inheritance work” and 1 instructor of “Jiangsu Province old TCM expert academic experience inheritance work”, 2 cultivation targets of the “national outstanding TCM clinical talent training program”, 5 famous TCM physicians of Jiangsu Province, 6 cultivation targets of the Jiangsu Province “333 Project”, 2 Jiangsu Province young experts of outstanding contribution, 1 “cultivation target of Jiangsu Province’s leading TCM talent”, 1 lifelong honorary physician prize winner, 1 Suzhou “Gusu leading health talent” and 1 Suzhou “Gusu key health talent”. A large number of outstanding talents inherit and carry forward the cultural characteristics of Wu’s Medical School and the humanistic spirit of medicine, and set up brand image of the hospital. 

The hospital is equipped with advanced medical facilities like the best CT, MRI and other large equipment. The hospital’s managing facilities and software play a leading role in China. The hospital has achieved digital and networking management, based on a series of software system, as well as clinical, medical skill, management information and payment information intercommunication and interconnection of service, through the mobile phone APP, appointment register system, “one-card pass” platform self-service system, logistic service system, etc. The rudiment of smart medical treatment and digital hospital is taking shape. 

Since the first establishment 60 years before, the hospital has maintained frequent medical exchanges with many countries and regions in the world, and established perfect and multi-dimensional cooperative relations with universities and hospitals in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Germany, Romania, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, etc. The hospital accepted foreign doctors to learn TCM acupuncture, massage, orthopedics and traumatology, etc, designated several batches of business backbones for study, investigation, visit and academic exchange in these countries and regions, and successfully held overseas TCM exhibition for many times. In November 2009, our hospital was invited to hold the “Europalia China Art Festival -- TCM Exhibition” in Yilasimo Museum Brussels Belgium, which was warmly welcomed by the local people. In 2012, a TCM cooperation agreement was signed with the Romania Tulcea County C&T Treatment Center, to establish our hospital’s C&T Treatment Center in Romania Tulcea County. Over the past three years, under exchanges of personnel for learning guidance, the center has transferred into a physiotherapy rehabilitation institution with TCM characteristics as the main treatment method. After transition of the treatment method and characteristics, the clinic business becomes more thriving. In September 2015, our hospital was invited to successfully hold the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture –– Woo Medicine Exhibition” in the Tulcea County C&T Treatment Center, and thus continuously enhanced international reputation of the hospital.
