Yang Yue led a group to Xianlin campus to inspect the campaign of Chinese medicine benefitting overseas Chinese people
    
On the afternoon of April 8, Yang Yue, member of the standing committee of Jiangsu Provincial CPC Committee and Minister of the United Front of Jiangsu, led a team to Xianlin campus to inspect the campaign of Chinese medicine benefitting the overseas Chinese people platform construction. Professor Cheng Chun, Chair of the university administrative council, and Professor Hu Gang, President of NJUCM also participated in the inspection meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Sun Zhiguang, Vice President of NJUCM.

The Inspection Meeting

In order to support overseas Chinese in fighting against COVID-19 epidemic, Jiangsu province launched the campaign of joining hands to overcome the difficulties together, an activity assisting Jiangsu overseas Chinese to battle the epidemic. At the meeting, Deputy Minister of the United Front of Jiangsu, also Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Wang Hua, introduced the basic information of the campaign. They set up special work group to support overseas Chinese nationals against the epidemic, mainly concerning overseas Jiangsu people, students studying abroad and people with close links to Jiangsu Province, by initiating a series of activities to send a health package, utilizing the platform and opening up a hotline, setting up an information-sharing window, entailing Jiangsu overseas Chinese and the vast majority of overseas students feel the warmth from hometown.

Professor Cheng Chun briefed to the delegation the university’s actions to help overseas Chinese fight the epidemic. After the outbreak, NJUCM with its affiliated hospitals gave full play to Chinese Medicine advantages, joining hands with the World health organization(WHO), overseas Chinese medicine centers, Confucius Institutes and other cooperative partners, making use of Chinese medicine online platform to overseas Chinese nationals on a regular basis to provide remote consultations, health guidance and other services, and actively organize the overseas alumni, forms a network at home and abroad, and contributes the wisdom and force of NJUCM. 

International Cloud Platform Connecting Dialogue

At the meeting, we also connected through the international cloud platform to exchange information with Associate Professor Liu Qin, officer of WHO Traditional Medicine Division, also the former Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of NJUCM, Professor Shen Sanbing, Confucius Institute of Chinese medicine and Regenerative Medicine, jointly established by National University of Ireland Galway and NJUCM, Professor Li Yiming, China – Swiss Chinese Medicine Centre (Zurich) , Professor Tang Shulan, China – UK Chinese Medicine Center (Manchester) , President Roger Li, Australian Education Management Group, and Dr. Shao Qinghua, member of medical aid team to Malta. In the special cloud dialogue, they introduced the situation of overseas Chinese, the services for overseas students, the assistance in epidemic prevention and control, and the greate role of Chinese medicine in fighting the epidemic. Professor Shi Suofang, doctor from the respiratory department of the affiliated hospital of NJUCM, shared his experience of participating in epidemic treatment with Chinese medicine in Jiang Xia hospital, Wu Han.

Yang Yue concluded the meeting, and remarked that the university and the affiliated hospital had made the best use of Chinese medicine. By using the TCM cloud platform to support overseas Chinese, the university presented its profound academic strength and high work efficiency. Yang Yue stressed that we should further intensify support and strengthen cooperation, and establish overseas connections more broadly so as to further raise supplies, enlarge the coverage of overseas aid to form a powerful support against the epidemic, and to convey the love from hometown to overseas Chinese nationals.
