NJUCM Receiving the 2018 National Award for Science and Technology Progress

The programme of “Recycling utilization mode of industrialized process for Chinese Materia Medica resources and the establishment, promotion and application for suitable technology system”, presided over by Prof. Duan Jin’ao with NJUCM as its leading completing unit, has received the second prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress.

The team led by Prof. Duan Jin’ao has conducted fundamental recycling research on the non-medicinal part during the industrialization of the Chinese Materia Medica, and on the various kinds of wastes and by-products during the deep processing for a long time. Their research achievements has been exemplified for promotion and application in over 20 Chinese Materia Medica processing plants, which has forcefully facilitated the recycling and environmental-friendly development. They pushed forward the translational application and radiation effects of suitable methods and technologies, and have produced remarkable social-economic-ecological effects and benefits.
Additionally, the programme of “Invention, preparation key technology and application of ginkgo diterpene lactone strong-effect compound” led by Prof. Xiao Wei as the director of National Key Laboratory of New Technology of Chinese Materia Medica Processing, Kanion Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. affiliated to NJUCM has received the second prize of National Award for Technological Invention. Prof. Xiao Wei’s findings provided innovative Chinese medicine drugs with double function of anti-platelet and neuro protection for treating cerebral arterial thrombosis, which has exemplary significance to the new Chinese medicine drug research and target-based new Chinese medicine innovation.
The awards received proves to be the important achievements as NJUCM steadfastly pushes forward the “Double First-class” construction and implements “Disciplinary Peak” initiative. Over the recent years, NJUCM gathers a team of high calibre targeting at the significant scientific issues in the discipline of Chinese Materia Medica and key obstacles ahead the industry’s development, which have conducted joint efforts to overcome the difficulties and have enhanced the research levels of the discipline group of Chinese Materia Medica in an all-around way, and have increased NJUCM’s contribution to the industry.
