The Honorary Dean of NJUCM School of Integrative Medicine, Prof. Fan Daiming, Academician of China Academy of Engineering delivering a lecture

Academician Prof. Fan Daiming considered that reverse medicine can solve the problems that current medicine is faced with. By connecting with multiple cases in actual life and medicine, Prof. Fan gave a detailed illustration on the concepts of reverse medicine. He pointed out that as the modern medicine was oriented at technological and microcosmic development, it brought out the defect of over categorized disciplines and fragmented medical knowledge, therefore even though the basic medical research is as abundant as the sea, the practical achievement with applicable value was less than 3% with unsatisfied clinical efficacy. By tracing the root of the problem from the origin of western classic philosophy and modern science, Prof. Fan stressed that all though modern science was based on western science, medicine cannot simply equal to science. There were times when scientific methods could go nowhere in face with complex modern medical problems.

Prof. Fan held the view that by consistent retrospection, accumulating experience, thinking backwards, the reverse medicine could change the thinking of modern medical research. The reverse medicine that Prof. Fan posed will not only be of great benefit to the theoretical study and clinical practice, but also pointing out a new path to the research of modern medicine.
